Kind Words

"It takes a particular skillset to create credible dramatic monologues, and a separate structural savvy to braid those monologues into a play or a cohesive prose narrative. I would be hard-pressed to come up with a comprehensive delineation of the specific skills involved in that process for a writer, but our ears and minds respond instinctively when we encounter those voices: either the characters come alive on the page for us or they don’t. Lindsey Vernon possesses that skillset in spades."

From a letter to LV: "I was game for it all, and loved it when you switched perspectives and used other literary devices, so I could get to see that everyone involved in this situation has a voice. And you did a great job of differentiating the voices to match their personalities, to actually give them personality...You have a wonderful gift of giving the needed information just at the right moment when I am questioning when and where the moment is taking place, or when I question something about [the characters'] history. It lends to the interweaving of plot in revealing the story, and both keeps us guessing and turning the pages. That, and the slow revelation of character, along with the clean and clear writing, bring pleasure into the reading as well as compulsion to know what happens. Good plot development in concert with good character development bring richness to the story."

"We have walked the walk and talked the talk, but seeing our vision in writing is a thing to behold. Lindsey operates on the idea that it's what you need and not necessarily what you want that determines your success. Fantastic philosophy."
